Solo self-taught dancer Kenichi Ebina began doing freestyle hip-hop before branching out into poppin’, lockin’, mime, house, jazz, contemporary, and ethnic dance.
BiTriP, a dance company composed entirely of Japanese dancers, was created by Kenichi in 2001. In 2001, BiTriP became the first Japanese performer to win the final grand championship of “Amateur Night” at the renowned Apollo Theater. Kenichi participated in the 2007 season of “Showtime at the Apollo” as a solo performer and won seven times to become the grand champion. The only two-time grand champion in the history of the Apollo theater is Kenichi.
In the US, Europe, Russia, China, Korea, Singapore, Japan, Morocco, and Australia, Kenichi has taught and performed at numerous events and TV shows. In addition, Kenichi has choreographed, directed, and performed for numerous theater and dance organizations.
The first full-length production by Ebina Performing Arts debuted at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the United States. Additionally, Kenichi received an invitation to present at TED 2007. Kenichi has performed as a featured dancer on the PBS Kids program “Angelina Ballerina.” He has occasionally performed at upscale show clubs, such as “The BOX” in New York City and London, and “The ACT” in Las Vegas.
