Watford vs Chelsea suspended for 30 minutes due to medical emergency in crowd
Watford’s game against Chelsea was suspended for half an hour due to a medical emergency in the crowd.
The referee David Coote called the players off the pitch after 12 minutes of the game after fans from both tiers of the Graham Taylor stand at Vicarage Road alerted players to the incident. Coote was quickly made aware of the emergency and stopped the match.
Chelsea won the game 2-1 after goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech.
The match on Wednesday night had already been paused due to an injury to Watford’s Adam Masina, with the player receiving treatment.
Medical staff and stewards were quickly onto the scene in the upper tier.
Physios and doctors from both teams attended the incident. The fan suffered cardiac arrest but has now been stabilised.
Amazon Prime Video reported that players asked to wait until definitive news on the fan came through.
They warmed-up for five minutes before the match resumed.
